I just love the research and thought leadership coming from the IBM institute of Business Value. Being a Cloud enthusiast,I found this one particularly valuable and enlightening, offering quantitative research and stats that confirms some of my previous though of Enterprise Cloud adoption. Therefore, when I was asked to write an introductory piece for the IBM Business insights Blog, I was thrilled. This is a short introduction and context post, just to give full protagonism to the report itself (find the full report here ). I encourage you to read and enjoy it.
This is the introduction I wrote:
This whitepaper was developed by the IBM Institute for Business Value as part of an ongoing series of executive reports. These reports develop fact-based strategic insights around critical public and private sector issues. When discussing cloud solutions with my clients, I find myself continually referring back to this in-depth report.
The IBM study surveyed 572 business and technology executives around the world to understand how organisations are using cloud today and how they plan to use it in the future.
According to the report, “Recent technology and social connectivity trends have created a perfect storm of opportunity for companies to embrace the power of cloud to optimize, innovate and disrupt business models”.
In fact, the survey found almost 75% of respondents had already piloted, adopted or implemented the cloud and 90% of organizations expected to do so in 3 years. But despite this widespread adoption of the cloud, its potential for driving business innovation remains virtually untapped.
Adopting the cloud allows companies to optimize their IT infrastructure and create new markets and revenue streams. This is the true power of cloud computing and the paper explains this ability beautifully.
